Sacred Space at Sacred Waters

Kintsugi is the traditional Japanese art of repairing pottery by joining pieces back togetherand filling cracks with lacquer dusted with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, highlighting the flaws in the mended object.

The modern art of kintsugi invites us to turn imperfections into beauty. Kintsugi is the art of mending broken pieces, reminding us that brokenness in our own lives can also be transformed. Our scars are no longer hidden but made into something beautiful.

I am particularly delighted to co-host this weekend of healing with my sister Liz Blancke. Liz is a kintsugi facilitator trained through Academy Kintsugi and she also holds degrees in counseling and sociology. Academy Kintsugi places value in not hiding the fracture of the past but rather mending it to make something new.

Liz has been facilitating modern kintsugi experiences for years and delights in leading this process art. While the final product is beautiful and new, the process of mending and sharing our stories can be transformative.  Liz has led Kintsugi experiences both in the U.S. and Europe for several years.

We will share the transformative tools of both Kintsugi and yoga for what promises to be an uplifting and inspiring weekend. These two practices woven together will create a fertile ground for personal growth and insight.

Because the right environment is integral in creating an elevated experience, we were drawn to Sacred Waters Retreat Center in Union, WA.

Sacred Waters combines cozy, welcoming accommodations and spectacular views of both the forest and Hood Canal. What makes it especially ideal for a yoga retreat is its Great Hall, an amazing yoga practice space, and delicious, healthy vegetarian meals prepared by conscientious, creative chefs. Sacred Waters is the perfect place to enjoy our inspirational weekend.
